What is coaching?
Coaching is the process of equipping
people with the tools, knowledge and opportunities
they need to fully develop themselves to be effective
in their commitment to themselves, their company
and their work.
Coaching is a designed alliance
focused on developing an individual to become their
“best self,” and to contribute their “best fit”
and talents. Coaching shifts the workplace landscape
from one where people receive direction from others—
to one where people commit to doing things they
care passionately about.
Unlike other coaching models, our
definition of coaching is not simply rehabilitative
counseling or supervision. We define coaching
as the skills, processes and knowledge through which
people involve themselves in making the maximum
impact. It involves constant renewal for themselves
and their organization as they experience continuous
change.
Coaching is a professional discipline
& skill set that enhances performance, action,
creativity, momentum and transformation.
Coaching has been identified by
many organizations, researchers and leaders as critical
leadership and management competency. True
coaching improves employee and organizational resiliency
and effectiveness.
Our model of coaching incorporates literally
hundreds of specialized skills, principles, concepts,
practices and nuggets of wisdom.
Coaching is not just management
skills re-packaged, although coaching draws on certain
management skills and competencies. Coaching
deals with employee growth, development and achievement
by removing roadblocks to performance and enhancing
creativity. Management deals
with supervision, evaluation and meeting objectives.
Coaching is not just therapy
or counseling, although coaching uses some of the
same communication processes. Coaching
is about creativity, performance and action.
Therapy deals with resolution and healing of the
past.
Coaching is not just mentoring
or consulting, although coaches will use their experience,
diagnose situations and give opinions or advice
at times. Coaching
uses knowledge and experience to help people create
and develop their own best practices, connections
and resources.
Coaching is not just training. Coaches
give information, but they support and encourage
those they coach to develop their own skills and
knowledge.

hire a coach?
You want to overhaul communication
& listening skills within your company.
You want to find and eliminate performance
blocks in your organization.
You are working on a business project,
situation or goal that could use some expert counsel
or support.
You need an unbiased outsider with
whom to have honest discussions about everyday problems
you face in your organization.
You want to build and maintain the
kind of work culture that will attract and retain
the top talent you need in your organization or
company.
You can't seem to optimize the effectiveness
of your team. Something is missing.
You are ready to stop talking about
change in your organization and TAKE ACTION!
How
do we coach?
We custom tailor our various
coaching programs to fit your individual or corporate
needs.
In most cases, Coaching begins
with a Free Initial Consultation.
We then proceed with a
Baseline Assessment to identify your
area of need. After that, we make specific
recommendations for the appropriate program and
whether you should proceed with either One-on-One
Coaching, or Group/Team coaching. For maximum benefit,
most clients commit to a minimum six-month Coaching
Program. At program completion, a
Results Measurement process measures
tangible results.
Does
your organization need a Coach?
Do you want to:
- Build and enhance team and work
group performance?
- Motivate sales production?
- Improve management & leadership?
- Promote diversity awareness &
leveraging?
If you answered "yes" to any of
the above, your company needs Coaching!
Human resource professionals have
identified that in order to prosper in the future,
companies will need to hire employees to "fit" with
the organization—rather than to fill job descriptions.
Employee fit is assessed and developed
through coaching. Managers
also coach employees to become more career self-reliant
and to develop their careers more effectively.
Executive Development Group
provides a model for workplace coaching that includes
all the above— with complete coaching and support
for managers whose goals are to develop their teams
to peak performance.
While some clients may “take to”
coaching more naturally than others at first, all
clients enjoy and become effective coaches once
they are supported by this model. Through our professional
coaching programs, your managers learn to use their
own unique coaching strengths.
